Luxury with a Conscience

Regent Santa Monica Beach is honored to be named a Grand Prize winner of the 2026 Sustainable Quality Award for Excellence in Economic Development, Social Responsibility, and Environmental Stewardship. Presented by Sustainable Works in partnership with the City of Santa Monica at the 30th Annual Sustainable Quality Awards, this recognition places us among a distinguished group of local organizations whose commitment to sustainability is advancing a more responsible and resilient Santa Monica community.

For us, this award is not an endpoint. It is a reflection of the daily choices made by our team, our partners, and our guests, and a renewed commitment to holding ourselves to the highest standard of environmental and social responsibility.

2026 Sustainable Quality Award

We are proud to have been recognized with the 2026 Sustainable Quality Award, a distinction that affirms our ongoing commitment to responsible luxury. This honor reflects the collective effort of our entire team, from the thoughtful choices made in our guest suites to the larger operational systems that run quietly behind the scenes. For us, sustainability is not a campaign. It is a standard.

Every Stay Gives Back

Regent Santa Monica Beach is proud to partner with Kind Traveler’s Every Stay Gives Back program, a pioneering initiative that seamlessly integrates charitable giving into the travel experience. Through this partnership, a portion of every guest stay supports the Marine Mammal Care Center, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of marine mammals along the California coast.

Los Angeles County experiences more marine mammal strandings per mile of coastline than anywhere else in the country. The Marine Mammal Care Center’s work, which encompasses hands-on animal care, community education, and collaborative ocean research, is essential to maintaining the health of the very waters that define our coastline and our identity.

Through our Every Stay Gives Back commitment, Regent Santa Monica Beach donates $1 per night of every guest stay directly to the Marine Mammal Care Center. One hundred percent of funds are directed to the organization, with no intermediary fees. Guests can track the real-world impact of their stay through Kind Traveler’s transparent impact dashboard.

Honey, Harvested Here

High above the Santa Monica shoreline, our rooftop is home to a working beehive, tended with care and producing fresh, single-origin honey each season. Honeybees are essential pollinators for the local plant life and ecosystems that surround our coastal community, and our on-site hive is one small but meaningful contribution to supporting that natural balance.

Each harvest yields a limited supply of Regent Santa Monica Beach house honey, available for purchase at Sweet July Cafe. Whether drizzled over a morning pastry or taken home as a keepsake of your stay, every jar carries a story rooted in place.

How We Do It, Every Day

The commitments that matter most are the ones practiced quietly and consistently. The following initiatives are woven into daily life at Regent Santa Monica Beach.

  • Rehydration Stations Each floor of the resort is equipped with rehydration stations offering both still and sparkling water, eliminating the need for single-use plastic bottles throughout your stay. Guests are invited to refill at any time, a simple convenience that makes a meaningful difference.
  • Nespresso Pod Recycling The Nespresso capsules found in every guest room are fully recyclable through Nespresso’s dedicated take-back program. Rather than contributing to landfill waste, used pods are collected and returned for proper recycling, recovering the aluminum and repurposing the coffee grounds.
  • Food Waste Composting All food waste generated on property is composted on-site, diverting organic material from landfill and returning nutrients to the earth. It is one of the most impactful steps a hospitality operation can take toward reducing its overall environmental footprint, and one we are committed to maintaining across all our culinary programming.
  • Motion Sensor Lighting Our guest rooms and common areas are equipped with motion sensor lighting systems that activate when spaces are occupied and power down when they are not. It is a quiet efficiency, invisible to the guest experience but significant in its cumulative impact on energy consumption.

The Shore Deserves Our Best

The Pacific Ocean is not simply a view from our windows. It is the reason we are here. Every practice we adopt, every partnership we forge, and every initiative we invest in is a reflection of our deep respect for this coastline and the community it sustains. We are grateful to our guests, our partners, and our team for making sustainable luxury not just an aspiration, but a way of life at Regent Santa Monica Beach.
